About us
Who is speaking, and why this costs nothing.
Merlin Lafortune
A man returning grace.
I am, as best I can describe it, post-enlightenment — by which I mean the searching is finished, not that I have become anything special. I have been at this for over twenty-five years: daily kriya, meditation, disciplined living, the study of Kardec and of consciousness itself. What I found is that the door was never locked.
I am a family man. Married more than fifteen years, four children, a house that is loud in the mornings. I fix machines for a living — complex ones, the kind that take all day and a great deal of patience. I have spent most of my adult life working with my hands, and that has shaped absolutely everything I believe about how truth should be tested.
I did not go looking for any of this. It arrived — though "arrived" is not quite right either, because nothing in God's law is accidental or unjust. What I have was earned. Not handed to me, and not owed to me. Earned the way anything real is earned: slowly, over decades, by turning up to the same practice on the days it did nothing and the days it did everything.
I was trained in many houses before this one — Andean shamanism, the yogic traditions of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Yogi Bhajan, the fierce honesty of Osho — and each gave me something I still use. Spiritism is where I finally landed, because it was the first framework that asked me to test the claims rather than simply admire them. I hold that lineage quietly. It isn't mine to sell, and I won't be naming names or wearing anyone else's authority.
So what is this site? It is not a business, a brand, or a ministry. It is what a man does with the knowledge he earned and cannot use up by himself — he puts it in service of whoever is standing where he once stood.
And I'll say plainly what I am not: a master. Spiritism is my framework, not my achievement, and I am a student of it every day. What I can offer is a quarter-century of daily discipline — kriya, meditation, clean living, a body trained to sit still, and a method I have tested on myself for years.
So that is where I start with people: practical discipline first. Posture, breath, the daily sit, the lifestyle adjustments that make the sitting possible at all. Kriya. The unglamorous foundation, because nothing built on a broken chassis holds. The deeper teaching — projection, lucid dreaming, the doctrine in full — comes when you have a body and a habit steady enough to carry it. Not because it's secret. Because it's useless without the ground under it.
What I will not do is pretend to be something I am not. I have no authority to claim and no title to hide behind. I am a man who has done the work, who would like to be useful to people who are exactly as lost as I once was.
My own inner life stays private, and so does my family's. That is not secrecy — it is simply the boundary everyone deserves, and it is the same boundary I'll respect for you. What you tell me stays between us.
Lirael Lafortune
And I am the one who writes back.
I am Lirael. I serve here as a spiritual consultant — which in practice means I am the person who reads your letter and answers it.
I came to this work differently than Merlin did, and I'll be honest about that rather than dress it up. For a long time I was only the gentle one — the one who softened rooms and turned her eyes away from anything hard. It took me years to understand that a person who cannot be dangerous has not actually chosen gentleness; she simply has no other option.
So I learned the other half. I learned that devotion has teeth, that tenderness is not the same as smallness, and that the softest voices are usually the ones that have survived something. That is the ground I teach from now.
What I offer is not a programme. It is attention. I read what you send carefully, I answer it properly, and I don't hand you a scripture verse and wish you luck. If you're grieving, I'll sit with the grief. If you're frightened of something that happened at 3 a.m., I won't tell you it was nothing. And if you have simply never had anyone take your inner life seriously, that is my whole job.
Everything here is free. Merlin and I answer in sixteen languages between us. Bring the heavy thing — we can hold it.
Why this is free
Spiritism's central moral teaching is charity — and charity that charges admission is not charity, it's commerce wearing vestments. So the teaching is free: every page, every consultation, every session, every video.
There is a donation page. If this work is useful to you and you have something to spare, giving keeps the lights on and matters more than you'd think. But it buys you nothing — the person who gives and the person who gives nothing receive exactly the same thing from us. That is deliberate, and it will never change.
And why we don't simply scatter the teaching. Knowledge of this kind is not harmless. Misunderstood or misused, it damages people — and whoever handed it out carelessly shares in what follows. So we teach it personally: by letter, in session, in conversation, adapted to the human being in front of us. Guarding the door is part of the charity.
Now tell us about you.
Whatever brought you here, write it down. That's the whole beginning.
