While we often struggle to define them with our limited language, we must not call them "immaterial," for that suggests they are nothing. Instead, they are "incorporeal"—formed of "quintessentialized matter" so ethereal that our coarse senses cannot perceive it. Do not imagine, however, that these beings are distant or abstract. They populate infinite space in infinite numbers. They are constantly at your side, observing and acting upon you, often without your knowledge. They travel as fast as thought itself; indeed, where the thought is, the soul is there also. Furthermore, the spirit is not a formless abstract spark. Just as a fruit seed is surrounded by a perisperm, the spirit is surrounded by a semi-material envelope we call the Perispirit. This envelope is drawn from the universal fluids of the globe the spirit inhabits. It is the mechanism by which a spirit can lift itself into the atmosphere and, when necessary, assume a form visible to us. [Part II: The Moral Hierarchy] Now, we must understand the great ladder of existence. All spirits are not equal in their development.

They belong to different orders based on their degree of self-purification. While there are no rigid barriers, we can discern three principal orders in this vast hierarchy. The Third Order: The Imperfect Spirits At the bottom of the scale, we find the Imperfect Spirits. These souls are characterized by the predominance of matter over spirit. • Impure Spirits: They are inclined toward evil and make it their preoccupation, giving treacherous advice and sowing discord.

• Frivolous Spirits: These are the mischievous, mocking ignorant souls—often known in folklore as goblins or imps—who meddle in our lives for amusement.

• Pseudo-Learned Spirits: These possess knowledge but lack wisdom. They mix truths with absurd errors, blinded by pride and the prejudices of their earthly lives.

• Neutral Spirits: They are neither moral enough to do good nor wicked enough to do evil; they remain attached to coarse, worldly things.

• Boisterous Spirits: These are the agents of physical disturbances—raps, movement of objects, and elemental instability.

The Second Order: The Good Spirits Ascending the ladder, we find the Good Spirits. Here, the spirit predominates over matter. Their defining characteristic is the desire to do good. They have comprehended God and the Infinite. They are no longer moved by envy, hatred, or jealousy. Their classes include:

• Benevolent Spirits: Their dominant quality is kindness and the protection of humans, though their knowledge may be limited.

• Learned Spirits: Distinguished by vast scientific understanding.

• Wise Spirits: Distinguished by the highest moral judgment.

• High Order Spirits: Those who combine science, wisdom, and goodness, communicating only with those who seek truth in good faith.

The First Order: The Pure Spirits Finally, at the summit, are the Pure Spirits. They have undergone all trials and freed themselves entirely from the impurities of matter. They no longer reincarnate; they live in unalterable bliss in the bosom of God. They are the messengers and ministers of the Creator, maintaining universal harmony and assisting us in our distress. [Part III: The Law of Progression and Hope] This hierarchy leads us to the most beautiful truth contained in this knowledge: The Law of Progression.

One might ask: Are some created good and others created evil? The answer is a resounding "No." God creates all spirits simple and ignorant. Every seraphim began at the starting line; every "demon" is merely a soul currently lagging behind. There are no beings created for eternal evil. Those we call "demons" are simply imperfect spirits who have not yet chosen the path of rectification. The term "Satan" is but an allegory for the personification of evil, not a rival deity. Even the darkest soul will eventually arrive at perfection, for a merciful Father cannot banish His children forever.

The speed of this advancement depends on us. It depends on our free will and our submission to the divine law. We may remain stationary, we may pause in our ascent, but we can never regress.
